10 Things to do in the Brandywine Valley this June
From Brandywine Polo Club matches to the Chester County Balloon Festival to the Old-Fashioned Ice Cream Festival, these are your best bets this month.

One of the most anticipated exhibits of the year, Winterthur’s display of 40 iconic costumes from the Emmy award-winning Netflix original series, The Crown, is a can’t-miss. The first two seasons explored the early reign and life of Queen Elizabeth II, and those of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh and their children, as well as Princess Margaret. The exhibit gives fans a glimpse behind the intricate costuming and will feature the coronation robe and Princess Margaret’s wedding dress.

To celebrate the kick off of polo season, Brandywine Polo Club will host the first of its three summer concert series. Additional concerts will take place on July 14 and Sept. 8. The event includes food trucks, family-friendly games and more. Can’t make it? Matches take places Fridays and Sundays through September.

Kennett Brewing Company is again partnering with the Chester County Bee Keepers Association for a special event aimed at saving these pollinators. Learn about what you can do and sip on a brand new honey brew.

The Chester County Hospital Polo Cup returns to the Brandywine Polo Club, complete with a best hat contest. The event benefits the Ob/Gyn Clinic at Chester County Hospital, as well as the Women’s Auxiliary’s Heart to Heart pledge.
June 9, Kennett Square, Pa.
The roving Clover Market makes a stop in Kennett Square. From 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., peruse dozens of vendors from antiques to jewelry to woodwork. Food trucks and drink purveyors, including Harvest Ridge Winery and Victory Brewing Company, will also be on hand. Kids can stay busy with crafts and activities, too.

Whether Italian runs in your blood or not, this festival is a staple in the Brandywine Valley. Celebrating its 45th anniversary this year, the festival features savory cuisine, live entertainment, rides and more.

Now in its eighth year, the Ladybug Music Festival is a celebration of women musicians. Held at the Lofts in downtown Wilmington, the free two-day block party will also have food trucks, arts and crafts vendors and women-fronted musical performances.
June 21-23, Toughkenamon, Pa.
The sky is the limit at the Chester County Balloon Festival. Now in its 13th year, the three-day event includes a Victory Beer garden, hot air balloon rides, fireworks and more.

Get a look at some of Chester County’s prettiest gardens with the Brandywine Valley Water Garden Tour. Running from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., tours typically feature five gardens. Proceeds benefit the Chester County Food Bank.

Head to Rockwood Park for this area favorite festival. Local ice cream purveyors, including Caffee Gelato, Dino’s Water Ice, Kona Ice, UDairy Creamery and Woodside Farms Creamery, gather alongside other food vendors for the tastiest festival of the summer. Look for live music, a vintage marketplace, hot air balloons and fireworks, as well.
