Summer Beauty

Share

This summer’s beauty trend is a mélange of bright colors. Very wearable, this modern look is sophisticated in its simplicity, a must for complementing the vibrant kaleidoscope of colors and tribal twist of fashions that paraded down the runway this season: Turquoise complemented by violet, coral with a hint of the season’s neutral, pink champagne to add a touch of romance.

Underlying that is a more relaxed, beachy look, glowing, natural, and characterized not so much by earthy, orangey undertones as sandwashed corals and barely-there whispers of color: Fresh eye color (Paula Dorf Dream Boat, for example, or Laura Mercier’s Bohemian Zen Collection). And then there’s peach, the color on everyone’s lips—sumptuous, sexy, simple.

Laura Mercier’s body bronzer gives skin a beautiful golden glow. Fresh’s “Here Comes the Sun” Bronzing Palette is the perfect bronzing and highlighting essential that contains two new shades of bronzing Face Luster and a highlighting Blush Powder.

“As the weather warms I like to wear a lighter fragrance,” says Cristi Miller of Houppette in Greenville. “One of my favorites is Coney Island by Bond. It’s a delicious beachy mix that includes notes of lime, cedar, and sandalwood.”

Color extends into accessories this summer. Make a statement with big, bold necklaces that can be worn from day into evening. If you are heading out for the weekend, a great way to add color to your look is with a versatile scarf top or handbag from Leigh Ann Barnes” custom line. “Wearing scarves as tops and dresses are the perfect summer couture … carefree, sensual, and easy. They drape perfectly and add an element of intrigue,” says Barnes.

White is always in for summer. Mix it with a bold color, add a tribal or ethnic print in a scarf, and you will be ready for the races. Shades of white, nude, and neutrals, along with shots of sherbet color and billowing sail-like details, make this summer’s wardrobe as light to the touch as it is to the eye. Romantic edges give a feeling of back-to-nature or day-at-the-beach.

And don’t forget: sturdy SPFs are always the ideal summer accessory.
