Kennett Symphony Holds 2013 Voice Competition

Kennett Symphony of Chester County invites classical singers from the ages of 18 to 26 to participate in its 2013 Voice Competition. Emerging artists compete in the Kendal-at-Longwood Auditorium for a $500 prize, as well as a performance with Kennett Symphony.

The application deadline is March 1, 2013. There is a $35 (non-refundable) application fee. Checks must be made payable to ?KSCC.? The application can be downloaded here.

The performer must prepare three operatic, oratorio or concert arias/songs for voice and orchestra in the original language. They must be from 18th, 19th and 20-21st century music by three different composers, and at least one piece should be performed in English. All pieces must be performed from memory.

The performer must provide three copies of audition music each labeled with performer’s name. The music should not be mailed in with the application and should be brought to the competition. The performer must provide an accompanist.

The first prize of $500 will be awarded to the winner. Second prize is $300 and third is $100.

The public is welcome to watch the competition free of charge.
